Steven Lockhardt’s journey began in Santa Fe, TX, where his passion for sports laid the foundation for his future endeavors. In 1989, while still a college baseball player, he received a call from a friend urging him to tune into ABC. There, he watched Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos dominate a beach volleyball match, instantly captivating him. The prospect of winning a free T-shirt further fueled his enthusiasm for the sport. Embracing this newfound love, Steven transitioned from baseball to volleyball, competing at Stephen F. Austin in both indoor and beach tournaments while also developing his skills as a referee.

For over 35 years, Steven has dedicated himself to coaching, fostering the growth and development of players of all ages. His commitment to sharing the joy and discipline of volleyball is a reflection of his deep appreciation for the sport. With the unwavering support of his wife, Heather, and their three daughters, Steven continues to find fulfillment in mentoring others, inspired by the connections and life lessons that volleyball offers.
